Prior to his rise to fame in late 1966, he had recorded several singles as a sideman with American R&B artists, including the Isley Brothers, Little Richard, and others. With the Jimi Hendrix Experience, he recorded three best-selling studio albums and several singles. An Experience compilation album and half of a live album recorded at the Monterey Pop Festival were also issued prior to his death. After the breakup of the Experience, some of his live performances at Woodstock and with the Band of Gypsys, as well as a Band of Gypsys studio single, were also released.
Hendrix's albums and singles with the Experience were originally released by Track Records in the UK and Reprise Records in the U.S. Track also issued the Band of Gypsys' album, but to settle an American contract dispute, it was released by Capitol Records in the U.S. The Woodstock soundtrack album was issued by Atlantic Records (subsidiary Cotillion Records in U.S.). Over the years, the Hendrix catalogue has been handled by different record companies, including MCA Records and currently Sony's Legacy Recordings. His original albums have been reissued, sometimes with new album art, mixes, and bonus material.
Hendrix's work as a sideman has appeared on several different labels. After he became popular, Hendrix contributed to recordings by several different artists. In addition to the legitimate singles and albums released before his death, two albums worth of demos and outtakes recorded with Curtis Knight with misleading cover art and titles were released, which Hendrix publicly denounced. After his death, many more such albums have appeared.
Jimi Hendrix is a 1973 rockumentary about Jimi Hendrix, directed and produced by Joe Boyd, John Head and Gary Weis. The film contains concert footage from 1967 to 1970, including the Monterey Pop Festival the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival, Woodstock and a Berkeley concert. The film also includes interviews with Hendrix' contemporaries, family and friends. People appearing in the film include Paul Caruso, Eric Clapton, Billy Cox, Alan Douglas, Germaine Greer, Hendrix' father, James A. "Al" Hendrix, Mick Jagger, Eddie Kramer, Buddy Miles, Mitch Mitchell, Juggy Murray, Little Richard, Lou Reed and Pete Townshend.
The film is also known as A Film About Jimi Hendrix. The title was used on the 2005 DVD-cover and theatrical poster.

Soundtrack Recordings from the Film Jimi Hendrix is the soundtrack to
the 1973 documentary film, Jimi Hendrix and the second live album by
him. The double album was released by Reprise Records in July 1973. It
contains the full-length live performances from the film and some clips
from interviews (though not necessarily from the film). The album peaked
at No. 89 on the Billboard album chart, which generated concern at
Reprise Records that repackaging old material would no longer satisfy
the fans of Jimi Hendrix. The album has not been released on compact
disc.<br />

twice caught him riding in stolen cars. When given a choice between
spending time in prison or joining the Army, he chose the latter and
enlisted on May 31, 1961. After completing eight weeks of basic
training at Fort Ord, California, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne
Division and stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He arrived there on
November 8, and soon afterward he wrote to his father: “There’s nothing
but physical training and harassment here for two weeks, then when you
go to jump school … you get hell. They work you to death, fussing and
fighting.” In his next letter home, Hendrix, who had left his guitar at
his girlfriend Betty Jean Morgan’s house in Seattle, asked his father to
send it to him as soon as possible, stating: “I really need it now.”[40]
His father obliged and sent the red Silvertone Danelectro on which
Hendrix had hand-painted the words “Betty Jean”, to Fort Ord.[41]
His apparent obsession with the instrument contributed to his neglect
of his duties, which led to verbal taunting and physical abuse from his
peers, who at least once hid the guitar from him until he had begged for
its return.<br />
In November 1961, fellow serviceman Billy Cox walked past an army
club and heard Hendrix playing guitar. Intrigued by the proficient
playing, which he described as a combination of “John Lee Hooker and
Beethoven”, Cox borrowed a bass guitar and the two jammed. Within a few
weeks, they began performing at base clubs on the weekends with other
musicians in a loosely organized band called the Casuals.<br />
Hendrix completed his paratrooper training in just over eight months,
and Major General C.W.G. Rich awarded him the prestigious Screaming
Eagles patch on January 11, 1962. By February, his personal
conduct had begun to draw criticism from his superiors. They labeled him
an unqualified marksman and often caught him napping while on duty and
failing to report for bed checks. On May 24, Hendrix’s platoon sergeant,
James C. Spears filed a report in which he stated: “He has no interest
whatsoever in the Army … It is my opinion that Private Hendrix will
never come up to the standards required of a soldier. I feel that the
military service will benefit if he is discharged as soon as possible.”
On June 29, 1962, Captain Gilbert Batchman granted Hendrix an honorable
discharge on the basis of unsuitability. Hendrix later spoke of his
dislike of the army and falsely stated that he had received a medical
discharge after breaking his ankle during his 26th parachute jump.<br />

<h3>
<span class="mw-headline" id="Early_years">Early years</span></h3>
In September 1963, after Cox was discharged from the Army, he and
Hendrix moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, and formed a band called the
King Kasuals. Hendrix had watched Butch Snipes play with his teeth in
Seattle and by now Alphonso ‘Baby Boo’ Young, the other guitarist in the
band, was performing this guitar gimmick. Not to be upstaged, Hendrix
learned to play with his teeth, he commented: “The idea of doing that
came to me … in Tennessee. Down there you have to play with your teeth
or else you get shot. There’s a trail of broken teeth all over the
stage.” Although they began playing low-paying gigs at obscure venues,
the band eventually moved to Nashville’s Jefferson Street, which was the
traditional heart of the city’s black community and home to a thriving
rhythm and blues music scene. They earned a brief residency playing at a
popular venue in town, the Club del Morocco, and for the next two years
Hendrix made a living performing at a circuit of venues throughout the
South who were affiliated with the Theater Owners’ Booking Association
(TOBA), widely known as the Chitlin’ Circuit. In addition to playing in
his own band, Hendrix performed as a backing musician for various soul,
R&B, and blues musicians, including Wilson Pickett, Slim Harpo, Sam
Cooke, and Jackie Wilson.<br />
In January 1964, feeling he had outgrown the circuit artistically,
and frustrated by having to follow the rules of bandleaders, Hendrix
decided to venture out on his own. He moved into the Hotel Theresa in
Harlem, where he befriended Lithofayne Pridgeon, known as “Faye”, who
became his girlfriend.Harlem native with connections throughout the
area’s music scene, Pridgeon provided him with shelter, support, and
encouragement.Hendrix also met the Allen twins, Arthur and Albert. In
February 1964, Hendrix won first prize in the Apollo Theater amateur
contest. Hoping to secure a career opportunity, he played the Harlem
club circuit and sat in with various bands. At the recommendation of a
former associate of Joe Tex, Ronnie Isley granted Hendrix an audition
that led to an offer to become the guitarist with the Isley Brothers’
back-up band, the I.B. Specials, which he readily accepted.<br />
<h3>
<span class="mw-headline" id="First_recordings">First recordings</span></h3>
In March 1964, Hendrix recorded the two-part single “Testify” with
the Isley Brothers. Released in June, it failed to chart. In May, he
provided guitar instrumentation for the Don Covay song, “Mercy Mercy”.
Issued in August by Rosemart Records and distributed by Atlantic, the
track reached number 35 on the <i>Billboard</i> chart.<br />
Hendrix toured with the Isleys during much of 1964, but near the end
of October, after growing tired of playing the same set every night, he
left the band. Soon afterward, Hendrix joined Little Richard’s touring
band, the Upsetters. During a stop in Los Angeles in February 1965, he
recorded his first and only single with Richard, “I Don’t Know What You
Got (But It’s Got Me)”, written by Don Covay and released by Vee-Jay
Records. Richard’s popularity was waning at the time, and the single
peaked at number 92, where it remained for one week before dropping off
the chart. Hendrix met singer Rosa Lee Brooks while staying at the
Wilcox Hotel in Hollywood, and she invited him to participate in a
recording session for her single, which included “My Diary” as the
A-side, and “Utee” as the B-side. He played guitar on both tracks, which
also included background vocals by Arthur Lee. The single failed to
chart, but Hendrix and Lee began a friendship that lasted several years;
Hendrix later became an ardent supporter of Lee’s band, Love.<br />
In July 1965, on Nashville’s Channel 5 <i>Night Train</i>, Hendrix
made his first television appearance. Performing in Little Richard’s
ensemble band, he backed up vocalists Buddy and Stacy on “Shotgun”. The
video recording of the show marks the earliest known footage of Hendrix
performing. Richard and Hendrix often clashed over tardiness, wardrobe,
and Hendrix’s stage antics, and in late July, Richard’s brother Robert
fired him.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimi_Hendrix#cite_note-FOOTNOTEShadwick200356.E2.80.9360-83">[72]</a>
He then briefly rejoined the Isley Brothers, and recorded a second
single with them, “Move Over and Let Me Dance” backed with “Have You
Ever Been Disappointed”. Later that year, he joined a New York-based
R&B band, Curtis Knight and the Squires, after meeting Knight in the
lobby of a hotel where both men were staying. Hendrix performed with
them for eight months. In October 1965, he and Knight recorded the
single, “How Would You Feel” backed with “Welcome Home” and on October
15, Hendrix signed a three-year recording contract with entrepreneur Ed
Chalpin. While the relationship with Chalpin was short-lived, his
contract remained in force, which later caused legal and career problems
for Hendrix. During his time with Knight, Hendrix briefly toured with
Joey Dee and the Starliters, and worked with King Curtis on several
recordings including Ray Sharpe’s two-part single, “Help Me”.Hendrix
earned his first composer credits for two instrumentals, “Hornets Nest”
and “Knock Yourself Out”, released as a Curtis Knight and the Squires
single in 1966.<br />
Feeling restricted by his experiences as an R&B sideman, Hendrix
moved to New York City’s Greenwich Village in 1966, which had a vibrant
and diverse music scene. There, he was offered a residency at the Cafe
Wha? on MacDougal Street and formed his own band that June, Jimmy James
and the Blue Flames, which included future Spirit guitarist Randy
California. The Blue Flames played at several clubs in New York and
Hendrix began developing
his guitar style and material that he would soon use with the
Experience. In September, they gave some of their last concerts at the
Cafe au Go Go, as John Hammond Jr.’s backing group.<br />

By May 1966, Hendrix was struggling to earn a living wage playing the
R&B circuit, so he briefly rejoined Curtis Knight and the Squires
for an engagement at one of New York City’s most popular nightspots, the
Cheetah Club. During a performance, Linda Keith, the girlfriend of
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards noticed Hendrix. She remembered:
“[His] playing mesmerised me”. She invited him to join her for a drink;
he accepted and the two became friends.<br />

producer Seymour Stein. They failed to see Hendrix’s musical potential,
and rejected him.[
She then referred him to Chas Chandler, who was leaving the Animals and
interested in managing and producing artists. Chandler liked the Billy
Roberts song "Hey Joe", and was convinced he could create a hit single
with the right artist. Impressed with Hendrix's version of the song, he
brought him to London on September 23, 1966, and signed him to a
management and production contract with himself and ex-Animals manager
Michael Jeffery.[94]
On September 24, Hendrix gave an impromptu solo performance at the
Scotch-Club, and later that night he began a relationship with Kathy
Etchingham that lasted for two and a half years.<br />
Following Hendrix’s arrival in London, Chandler began recruiting
members for a band designed to highlight the guitarist’s talents, the
Jimi Hendrix Experience. Hendrix met guitarist Noel Redding at an
audition for the New Animals, where Redding’s knowledge of blues
progressions impressed Hendrix, who stated that he also liked Redding’s
hairstyle. Chandler asked Redding if he wanted to play bass guitar in
Hendrix’s band; Redding agreed. Chandler then began looking for a
drummer and soon after, he contacted Mitch Mitchell through a mutual
friend. Mitchell, who had recently been fired from Georgie Fame and the
Blue Flames, participated in a rehearsal with Redding and Hendrix where
they found common ground in their shared interest in rhythm and blues.
When Chandler phoned Mitchell later that day to offer him the position,
he readily accepted.Chandler also convinced Hendrix to change the
spelling of his first name from <i>Jimmy</i> to the exotic looking <i>Jimi</i>.<br />
On September 30, Chandler brought Hendrix to the London Polytechnic
at Regent Street, where Cream was scheduled to perform, and where
Hendrix and Eric Clapton met. Clapton later commented: “He asked if he
could play a couple of numbers. I said, ‘Of course’, but I had a funny
feeling about him, Halfway through Cream’s set, Hendrix took the stage
and performed a frantic version of the Howlin’ Wolf song “Killing
Floor”.<br />
In 1989, Clapton described the performance: “He played just about
every style you could think of, and not in a flashy way. I mean he did a
few of his tricks, like playing with his teeth and behind his back, but
it wasn’t in an upstaging sense at all, and that was it … He walked
off, and my life was never the same again”.<br />

<b>Edward Thomas "Eddie" Rabbitt</b> (November 27, 1941 – May 7, 1998) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. His career began as a songwriter in the late 1960s, springboarding to a recording career after composing hits such as "Kentucky Rain" for Elvis Presley in 1970 and "Pure Love" for Ronnie Milsap in 1974. Later in the 1970s, Rabbitt helped to develop the crossover-influenced sound of country music prevalent in the 1980s with such hits as "Suspicions" and "Every Which Way but Loose." His duets "Both to Each Other (Friends and Lovers)" and "You and I", with Juice Newton and Crystal Gayle respectively, later appeared on the soap operas <i>Days of Our Lives</i> and <i>All My Children</i>.

Rabbitt was born to Irish immigrants in Brooklyn, New York in 1941 and was raised in the nearby community of East Orange, New Jersey. His father was an oil-refinery refrigeration worker and a skilled fiddle and accordion player who often entertained local New York City dance halls. By age twelve Rabbitt was a proficient guitar player, having been taught by his scoutmaster, Bob Scwickrath. During his childhood Rabbitt became a self-proclaimed "walking encyclopedia of country music". After his parents divorced he dropped out of school at age sixteen. His mother, Mae, explained this action by saying that Rabbitt "was never one for school [because] his head was too full of music." He later obtained a high school diploma after taking courses at night school.

Rabbitt was employed as a mental hospital attendant in the late 1950s but, like his father, he fulfilled his love of music by performing at the Six Steps Down club in his hometown. He later won a talent contest and was given an hour of Saturday night radio show time to broadcast a live performance from a bar in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paterson,_New_Jersey" title="Paterson, New Jersey">Paterson</a>. In 1964, he signed his first record deal with 20th Century Records and released the singles, "Next to the Note" and "Six Nights and Seven Days". Four years later, with $1,000.00 to his name, Rabbitt moved to Nashville where he began his career as a songwriter. During his first night in the town, Rabbitt wrote "Working My Way Up to the Bottom", which Roy Drusky recorded in 1968. To support himself, Rabbitt worked as a truck driver, soda jerk and fruit picker while in Nashville. He was ultimately hired as a staff writer for the Hill & Range Publishing Company and received a salary of $37.50 per week. As a young songwriter, Rabbitt socialized with other aspiring writers at Wally's Clubhouse, a bar in Nashville; he said that he and the other patrons had "no place else to go."
Rabbitt became successful as a songwriter in 1969 when Elvis Presley recorded his song "Kentucky Rain". The song went gold and cast Rabbitt as one of Nashville's leading young songwriters. While eating Cap'n Crunch, he penned "Pure Love", which Ronnie Milsap rode to No. 1 in 1974. This song led to a contract offer from Elektra Records.
Rabbitt signed with Elektra Records in 1975. His first single under that label, "You Get To Me" made the Top 40 that year, and two songs in 1975, "Forgive And Forget" and "I Should Have Married You" nearly made the Top 10. These three songs along with a recording of "Pure Love" were included on Rabbitt's self-named debut album in 1975. In 1976 his critically acclaimed <i>Rocky Mountain Music</i> album was released, which handed Rabbitt his first No. 1 Country hit with the track "Drinkin' My Baby (Off My Mind)". In 1977 his third album, <i>Rabbitt</i> was released, which made the Top 5 on country album charts. Also in 1977 the Academy of Country Music named Rabbitt "Top New Male Vocalist of the Year". By that time he had a good reputation in Nashville, and was being compared by critics to singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson.

<span class="mw-headline" id="Crossover_success">Crossover success</span></h3>
While he was still relatively unknown, Rabbitt toured with and opened for crossover star Kenny Rogers, and also opened for Dolly Parton on a number of dates during her 1978 tour, but soon Rabbitt would himself break through on other charts. Following the 1978 release of <i>Variations</i>, which included two more No. 1 hits, Rabbitt released his first compilation album, <i>The Best of Eddie Rabbitt</i>. The album produced Rabbitt's first cross-over single of his career, "Every Which Way But Loose", which topped country charts and reached the top 30 on both the Billboard 100 and Adult Contemporary, and was featured in a 1978 Clint Eastwood movie of the same name. The song also broke the record for highest chart debut, entering at No. 18. Rabbitt held this record until it was shared with Garth Brooks at the debut of Brooks' 2005 single "Good Ride Cowboy." The record was broken in 2006 upon the No. 17 chart entrance of Keith Urban's "Once in a Lifetime." Rabbitt's next single, the R&B flavored "Suspicions" from his 1979 album <i>Loveline</i>, was an even greater crossover success, again reaching number one on country charts and the Top 15 on the Billboard 100 and Adult Contemporary. He was given his own television special on NBC, first airing on July 10, 1980, which included appearances by such performers as Emmylou Harris and Jerry Lee Lewis. By this point in his career Rabbitt had been compared to a "young Elvis Presley."<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Scorpions</span> are a German rock band formed in 1965. Since the band's inception, their musical style has ranged from hard rock to heavy metal. The band's only constant member is guitarist Rudolf Schenker, although Klaus Meine has been lead singer for all their studio albums. They are known for their 1980s rock anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and many singles, such as "No One Like You", "Send Me an Angel", "Still Loving You", and "Wind of Change". The band was ranked No. 46 on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock program. "Rock You Like a Hurricane" is also No. 18 on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs. Rudolf Schenker, the band's rhythm guitarist launched the band in 1965. At first, the band had beat influences and Schenker himself did the vocals. Things began to come together in 1970 when Schenker's younger brother Michael and vocalist Klaus Meine joined the band. In 1972 the group recorded and released their debut album <i>Lonesome Crow</i>, with Lothar Heimberg on bass and Wolfgang Dziony on drums. During the <i>Lonesome Crow</i> tour, Scorpions opened for upcoming British band UFO. Near the end of the tour, guitarist Michael Schenker accepted an offer of lead guitar for UFO. Uli Roth, a friend of the Schenker brothers, was then called in to finish off the tour.
The departure of Michael Schenker led to the breakup of the band. In 1973, Uli Roth, who had helped Scorpions complete the <i>Lonesome Crow</i> tour, was offered the role as lead guitarist, but turned the band down, preferring instead to remain in the band Dawn Road. Rudolf Schenker eventually decided that he wanted to work with Roth, but did not want to resurrect the last Scorpions lineup. He attended some of Dawn Road's rehearsals and ultimately decided to join the band, which consisted of Roth, Francis Buchholz (bass), Achim Kirschning (keyboards) and Jürgen Rosenthal (drums). Roth and Buchholz persuaded Rudolf Schenker to invite Klaus Meine to join on vocals, which he soon did. While there were more members of Dawn Road than Scorpions in the band, they decided to use the Scorpions name because it was well known in the German hard rock scene and an album had been released under that name.

<h3>
<span class="mw-headline" id="Rise_to_fame_.281974.E2.80.931978.29">Rise to fame (1974–1978)</span></h3>
In 1974, the new line-up of Scorpions released <i>Fly to the Rainbow</i>. The album proved to be more successful than <i>Lonesome Crow</i> and songs such as "Speedy's Coming" and the title track established the band's sound. Achim Kirschning decided to leave after the recordings. Soon after, Jürgen Rosenthal had to leave as he was being drafted into the army. In 1976, he would join a German progressive rock band called Eloy recording three albums. He was replaced by a Belgian drummer, Rudy Lenners.
In 1975, the band released <i>In Trance</i>, which marked the beginning of Scorpions' long collaboration with German producer Dieter Dierks. The album was a huge step forward for Scorpions and established their heavy metal formula. It garnered a fan base at home and abroad with cuts such as "In Trance", "Dark Lady" and "Robot Man".
In 1976, Scorpions released <i>Virgin Killer</i>. The album's cover featured a nude prepubescent girl behind a broken pane of glass. The cover art was designed by Stefan Bohle who was the product manager for RCA Records, their label at the time. The cover brought the band considerable market exposure but was subsequently pulled or replaced in other countries. The album itself garnered demographic praise for its music from select critics and fan base. In 2008 this image was blacklisted from the English wikipedia by the Internet Watch Foundation, see Internet Watch Foundation and Wikipedia.
The following year, Rudy Lenners resigned for personal reasons and was replaced by Herman Rarebell.
For the follow-up <i>Taken by Force</i>, RCA Records made a determined effort to promote the album in stores and on the radio. The album's single, "Steamrock Fever", was added to some of RCA's radio promotional records. Roth was not happy with the commercial direction the band was taking. Although he performed on the band's Japan tour, he departed to form his own band, Electric Sun prior to the release of the resultant double live album <i>Tokyo Tapes</i>. <i>Tokyo Tapes</i> was released in the US and Europe six months after its Japanese release. By that time in mid 1978, after auditioning around 140 guitarists, Scorpions recruited guitarist Matthias Jabs.

Seether - Fine Again
"<b>Fine Again</b>" is the American debut single by South African post-grunge and alternative metal band Seether and was also later included on the <i>5 Songs</i> EP. It is the third track on their album <i>Disclaimer</i>.
During live shows, Shaun Morgan has been known to dedicate the song to Dave Williams of Drowning Pool as well as Dimebag Darrell
</div>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">
The video for the song, directed by Paul Fedor, features the band playing on a soundstage while three walls behind them display filmstrip slides of people holding opaque rectangles with phrases depicting their inner feelings on them explaining the reason why they feel down, and broken hearted. Seether arranged for the concept to be implemented on the cover art to <i>Disclaimer</i>. Ten different versions of the album were released, each featuring a photo of a person from the video. According to bassist Dale Stewart:
<br />
<dl><dd>"[Seether] came up with the idea of the people baring their souls and holding up the signs and we thought it was a good concept. It's kind of like a thread that runs through the whole album, the fragility, or whatever you want to call it, you know in people. People are always screwed up about something. It doesn't matter if they act like they're not as if they're alright. So therefore, there are times where everybody feels a broken heart."</dd><dd><hr />

In 2002, Seether launched their first official album, <i>Disclaimer</i>, which earned the band three singles: "Fine Again", "Driven Under" and "Gasoline", in which only the first managed some repercussion. The year 2002 was very trendy for Seether. Since the release of Disclaimer, the band hasn't stopped touring. When near the end of Disclaimer Tour, the band decided to return to the studio to record their second album, a project that had to be delayed by almost a year, since at that time Seether was on world tour with Evanescence. "Fine Again" is also in the video game Madden NFL 2003 and 1080 Avalanche.

Following the release of <i>Disclaimer</i>, the band toured continually in order to increase sales and name recognition. A planned second album was delayed for nearly a year when Seether was selected as the support act for an Evanescence worldwide tour. Seether reworked their acoustic ballad, "Broken", as an electric ballad with guest vocals by Amy Lee of Evanescence. Favorable audience response led the band to record the revised version, with Lee on vocals. The track, along with a new song entitled "Sold Me", was featured on the soundtrack for the 2004 film, <i>The Punisher</i>, and became a major success for the band, particularly in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. A romance developed between Lee and Morgan during this time.
Morgan has stated that the song is based on an incident in which the band was subjected to the wishes of the record company, rather than those of the band. An alternate version of the original album, with many of its songs remixed or rerecorded, was released in late 2004 and entitled <i>Disclaimer II</i>. The alternate version also featured eight extra tracks.

The band's follow-up album, <i>Karma and Effect</i>, was released in 2005. Originally titled <i>Catering to Cowards,</i> the name was changed at the record label's demand. "Karma and Effect" debuted at number 8 on the US Billboard 200 album charts, and was certified gold in the US and Canada. The album spawned three singles, "Remedy", "Truth" and "The Gift". "Remedy" reached number 1 on the US Mainstream Rock Charts, Seether's first number 1 hit.
Seether released an acoustic CD/DVD set titled <i>One Cold Night</i>, recorded at Grape Street, in Philadelphia, on 22 February 2006. Morgan had been suffering from a stomach ailment, and decided to do an acoustic performance of their set rather than cancel the show. The exclusion of "Needles" and "Burrito" from the album is due to the label's desire that it contain no obscenities.
Lead guitarist Patrick Callahan's departure from the band was announced on 16 June 2006. No reason was given, but he apparently did not enjoy Seether's new material. Shaun Morgan commented:
<br />
<dl><dd>"<i>Um... relieved a little... actually a lot. He was the guy in the band that was always our naysayer, and he was the negative energy as far as writing. I personally have no love lost, which is weird for some reason 'cause he was my friend for four years. But when he walked out, it kinda walked out with him.</i>"[1]</dd></dl>
Morgan entered a rehabilitation program for alcoholism in August 2006, which forced the band to cancel a tour with Staind and Three Days Grace.

Shaun Morgan, prior to the next album's debut, claimed that it would be more diverse than previous efforts. <i>Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces</i> was slated for an August release that was delayed until 23 October due to the suicide of Morgan's brother, Eugene Welgemoed. The album debuted at number 9 in the Billboard 200 album charts, and sold 57,000 copies in its first week. Its cover artwork featured "Candice the Ghost", and was illustrated by David Ho. The first single, "Fake It", reached the top position of the US Mainstream Rock Charts and Modern Rock Charts, and held that spot for at least 9 weeks on both charts. It became the theme for WWE's No Way Out (2008). "Rise Above This", written for Eugene Welgemoed, was released as a single and reached the No. 1 spot on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 2 on its mainstream counterpart.[<i><span title="The text near this tag may need clarification or removal of jargon. (July 2012)">clarification needed</span></i>] The final single from the album was "Breakdown", the video of which was released on 12 November 2008 after a delay from its original 23 October scheduled release date. <i>Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces</i> won Seether's first South African Music Award, in the category "Best Rock: English", as well as their first MTV Africa Music Award for "Best Alternative Artist".
A tour launched in support of the album in early 2008 lasted much of the year. Troy McLawhorn, of Dark New Day, Evanescence, Sevendust, and doubleDrive, was hired as a touring guitarist on 15 February 2008. Bands Seether shared the stage with on the tour included Three Days Grace, Finger Eleven, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Doors Down, Skillet, Red, Papa Roach, Flyleaf, Econoline Crush and Staind. McLawhorn was afterwards made an official member of the band.
"No Shelter" appeared on the NCIS Official TV Soundtrack, released on 10 February 2009, and a version of Wham!'s "Careless Whisper" was made available for purchase as a digital or mobile download. The song was reportedly covered as a joke, in which the band turned a "Cheesy 80s pop ballad"[<i><span title="This claim needs references to reliable sources. (January 2011)">citation needed</span></i>] into a Hard Rock/Metal song in response to Wind-up's request that they record a Valentine's Day song. The music video for "Careless Whisper" premiered on 15 June 2009, and the song is included as an additional track on the reissue of <i>Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces</i>.
Seether supported Nickelback on their Dark Horse tour in March and April, 2009. Shaun and Dale confirmed in an interview on 2 March 2009 that, after the Nickelback tour, Seether would take the rest of year off to write and record the follow-up to <i>Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces</i>. The band nevertheless gave performances through the remainder of the year, which included a date in Okinawa to play for American troops as part of a USO tour on 23 and 24 May at Camp Schwab, and then in MCAS Iwakuni on 26 May for the US Marines. Seether also made appearances at a number of festivals during the summer, including sets at the Chippewa Valley Music Festival and the Quebec City Festival, before the tour's conclusion at The Big E Festival, West Springfield, MA, on 4 October.

<span style="font-size: large;">3 Doors Down </span>
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span> American rock band from Escatawpa, Mississippi who formed in 1996. The band originally consisted of Brad Arnold (vocals/drums), Todd Harrell (bass) and Matt Roberts (guitar). They took in guitarist Chris Henderson in the very early days of The Better Life's creation and released the album as a 4 piece band. Richard Liles played drums for the band during their touring stint on that record. From 2002 - 2005 The band hired Daniel Adair as a "touring" drummer and took off to play nearly 1000 shows as this formation all across the world in support of their hugely successful 'Away From The Sun' album.<br />
<br />
In 2005, when Daniel Adair was hired full-time by Nickelback, 3 Doors Down took on Greg Upchurch (Puddle Of Mudd) to play drums full-time. In 2012; the band released a statement explaining an issue with original guitarist Matt Roberts' health, leading to his departure from 3 Doors Down. This movement created space for Chet Roberts to fill. Roberts was Chris Henderson's guitar tech previously.<br />
<br />
In 2013, Todd Harrel was ejected out of the band following a vehicular homicide he caused, and Justin Biltonen was hired as a bassist. The band rose to international fame with their first single, "Kryptonite", which charted in the top three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band then signed onto Republic Records and released their debut album, The Better Life, in 2000. The album was the 11th-best-selling album of the year and was certified 6x platinum in the United States. Their second album, Away from the Sun, (2002) continued the band's success; it debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart, went multi-platinum in the United States like its predecessor, and spawned the hits "When I'm Gone" and "Here Without You".<br />
<br />
The band followed it up by extensive touring for two years before releasing their third album, Seventeen Days, in 2005. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum within its first month of release. Their fourth, self-titled album, 3 Doors Down (2008), also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band's fifth studio album, Time of My Life (2011) debuted at No. 3 at the charts. The band has shared the stage with artists such as Daughtry, Megadeth, Staind, Nickelback, Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin, Theory of a Deadman, Seether, Shinedown, Hinder, Mentors, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Since the start of their career, 3 Doors Down have sold over 20 million albums worldwide.<br />

formed in December 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, from the remaining
members of semi-professional local group The Shadettes (formed in 1961)
by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton (ex Mark V and The

They took their name from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, which is cited in the

The band moved to London, England in 1970, and released their eponymous debut album in 1971. After getting some attention with their second album <i>Exercises,</i> released in 1972, Nazareth supported Deep Purple on tour, and issued the Roger Glover-produced <i>Razamanaz</i>, in early 1973. This collection spawned two UK Top Ten hits, "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy". This was followed by <i>Loud 'N' Proud</i> in late 1973, which contained another hit single with a cover of Joni Mitchell's song "This Flight Tonight". Then came another album <i>Rampant,</i> in 1974, that was equally successful although its only single, "Shanghai'd in Shanghai", narrowly missed the British Top 40. A non-album song, again a cover version, this time of Tomorrow's "My White Bicycle", was a UK Top 20 entry in 1975.<br />

Scottish hard rock band, founded in 1968, that had several hits in the
United Kingdom in the early 1970s, and established an international
audience with their 1975 album Hair of the Dog. Perhaps their best-known
hit single was a cover of the ballad "Love Hurts", in 1975. The band
continues to record and tour.<br />

<i>Hair of the Dog</i> was released in April 1975 and was produced by Manny Charlton, ending Roger Glover's association with the band. The title track of that album (popularly, though incorrectly, known as "Son of a Bitch" due to its hook lyric) became a staple of 1970s rock radio. The American version of the album included a song originally recorded by The Everly Brothers, the melodic ballad "Love Hurts", that was released as a hit single in the UK and in the US, where it went platinum. The track became the band's only US Top Ten hit. and was also a top 10 hit in nine other countries, reaching number 1 in six of them. The song was on the Norwegian chart for 60 weeks.<br />
In 1979, second guitarist Zal Cleminson was added to the line-up, remaining for two albums, <i>No Mean City</i> and <i>Malice in Wonderland</i>, and contributing numerous compositions. <i>Malice in Wonderland</i> contained the single "Holiday". In 1981, they contributed the song "Crazy (A Suitable Case for Treatment)" to the soundtrack to the film, <i>Heavy Metal</i>.<br />
Various
Nazareth line-ups continued to make studio albums and tour throughout
the 1980s and 1990s, although their popularity had declined such that
some albums no longer received either a UK or a US release. They
remained popular in Europe, particularly Germany, where "Dream On" became a hit single. In 1991, Billy Rankin returned to replace Manny Charlton on the <i>No Jive</i> album, remaining with the band until 1994.</div>

<br />
<b>Def Leppard</b> are an English rock band formed in 1977 in
Sheffield as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. Since
1992, the band has consisted of Rick Savage (bass, backing vocals), Joe
Elliott (lead vocals), Rick Allen (drums, backing vocals), Phil Collen
(guitar, backing vocals), and Vivian Campbell (guitar, backing vocals).
This is the band's longest-standing line-up.<br />
The band's strongest commercial success came between the early 1980s and the early 1990s. Their 1981 album <i>High 'n' Dry</i>
was produced by Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who helped them begin to
define their style, and the album's stand out track "Bringin' On
theHeartbreak" became one of the first rock videos played on MTV in
1982. The band's next studio album <i>Pyromania</i> in 1983, with
"Photograph" as the lead single, turned Def Leppard into a household
name. In 2003, the album ranked number 384 on Rolling Stone's 500
Greatest Albums of All Time.<br />
Def Leppard's fourth album <i>Hysteria</i>,
released in 1987, topped the U.S. and UK album charts. As of 2009 it
has 12x platinum sales in the U.S. and has gone on to sell over 20
million copies worldwide. The album spawned seven singles, including the U.S. <i>Billboard</i>
Hot 100 number one "Love Bites", alongside "Pour Some Sugar on Me",
"Hysteria", "Armageddon It", "Animal", "Rocket", and "Women".<br />
Their next studio album <i>Adrenalize</i> (the first following the death of guitarist Steve Clark) reached number one on the U.S. <i>Billboard</i>
200 and UK Album Chart in 1992, and contained several hits including,
"Let's Get Rocked" and "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad". Their 1993
album <i>Retro Active</i> contained the acoustic hit song "Two Steps Behind", while their greatest hits album <i>Vault</i> released in 1995 featured the new track "When Love & Hate Collide".<br />
As one of the world's best-selling music artists, Def Leppard have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and have two albums with RIAA diamond certification, <i>Pyromania</i> and <i>Hysteria</i>. They are one of only five rock bands with two original studio albums selling over 10 million copies in the U.S. The band were ranked No. 31 in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" and ranked No. 70 in "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".<br />

Rick
Savage, Tony Kenning, and Pete Willis, all students at Tapton School in
Sheffield, South Yorkshire, formed a band called Atomic Mass in 1977.
The band originally consisted of Willis on guitar, Savage on bass (after
originally playing guitar), and Kenning on drums. Only 18 at the time,
Joe Elliott tried out for the band as a guitarist following a chance
meeting with Willis after missing a bus. During his audition it was
decided that he was better suited to be the lead singer. Their first
ever gig was in the dining hall in A Block in Westfield School in
Mosborough, Sheffield.<br />

Soon
afterward they adopted a name proposed by Elliott, "Deaf Leopard",
which was originally a band name he thought up while writing reviews for
imaginary rock bands in his English class (and in at least partial
reference to the band Led Zeppelin). At Kenning's suggestion, the
spelling was slightly modified in order to make the name seem less like
that of a punk band. In January 1978, Steve Clark joined the band.
According to Joe Elliott, he successfully auditioned for the band by
playing Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" in its entirety.<br />
In November, just prior to recording sessions for what would be a three-song release known as <i>The Def Leppard E.P.</i>,
Kenning abruptly left the band; he would later form the band Cairo. He
was replaced for those sessions by Frank Noon. By the end of the month,
Rick Allen, then only 15 years old, had joined the band as its full-time
drummer. Sales of the EP soared after the track "Getcha Rocks Off" was
given extensive airtime by renowned BBC Radio DJ John Peel, considered
at the time to be a champion of punk rock and new wave music.<br />
Throughout
1979, the band developed a loyal following among British hard rock and
heavy metal fans and were considered among the leaders of the New Wave
of British Heavy Metal movement. Their growing popularity led to a
record deal with the major label Phonogram/Vertigo (Mercury Records in
the US). Leppard's original management, MSB, a local duo consisting of
Pete Martin and Frank Stuart-Brown, were fired after Martin and Joe
Elliott got into a fist fight over an incident on the road. The band
approached Peter Mensch of Leber-Krebs management, who had booked them
on a tour of the UK supporting AC/DC. Mensch, who admitted that he had
had his eye on the band, became their manager.<br />

named Smile with bassist Tim Staffell. Freddie Mercury (then known by
his birth name of Farrokh "Freddie" Bulsara) was a fan of Smile, and
encouraged them to experiment with more elaborate stage and recording
techniques after Staffell's departure in 1970.<br />
Mercury himself
joined the band shortly thereafter, changed the name of the band to
"Queen", and adopted his familiar stage name. John Deacon was recruited
prior to recording their eponymous debut album in 1973. Queen enjoyed
success in the UK with their debut and its follow-up, <i>Queen II</i> in 1974, but it was the release of <i>Sheer Heart Attack</i> later in 1974 and <i>A Night at the Opera</i>
in 1975 that gained the band international success. The latter featured
"Bohemian Rhapsody", which stayed at number one in the UK Singles Chart
for nine weeks; it charted at number one in several other territories,
and gave the band their first top ten hit on the US Billboard Hot 100.<br />
Their 1977 album, <i>News of the World</i>,
contained two of rock's most recognisable anthems, "We Will Rock You"
and "We Are the Champions". By the early 1980s, Queen were one of the
biggest stadium rock bands in the world, and their performance at 1985's
Live Aid is regarded as one of the greatest in rock history. In 1991,
Mercury died of bronchopneumonia, a complication of AIDS, and Deacon
retired in 1997. Since then, May and Taylor have infrequently performed
together, including a collaboration with Paul Rodgers under the name
Queen + Paul Rodgers which ended in May 2009. In 2013, May and Taylor
will tour with Adam Lambert under the name of Queen + Adam Lambert.<br />
The
band have released a total of 18 number one albums, 18 number one
singles, and 10 number one DVDs. Estimates of their album sales
generally range from 150 million to 300 million albums, making them one
of the world's best-selling music artists. They received the Outstanding
Contribution to British Music Award from the British Phonographic
Industry in 1990, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
in 2001.</div>

other territories, and gave the band their first top ten hit on the US
Billboard Hot 100.<br />
Their 1977 album, News of the World, contained
two of rock's most recognisable anthems, "We Will Rock You" and "We Are
the Champions". By the early 1980s, Queen were one of the biggest
stadium rock bands in the world, and their performance at 1985's Live
Aid is widely regarded as one of the greatest in rock history. In 1991,
Mercury died of bronchopneumonia, a complication of AIDS, and Deacon
retired in 1997.<br />
Since then, May and Taylor have infrequently
performed together, including a collaboration with Paul Rodgers under
the name Queen + Paul Rodgers which ended in May 2009. The band have
released a total of 18 number one albums, 18 number one singles, and 10
number one DVDs. Estimates of their album sales generally range from 150
million to 300 million albums, making them one of the world's
best-selling music artists.<br />
They received the Outstanding
Contribution to British Music Award from the British Phonographic
Industry in 1990, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
in 2001.<br /> READ THE FULL STORY <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_%28band%29" target="_blank">CLICK HERE</a></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"> </span> (born 22 April 1950) is an English rock musician, singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He was previously associated with the bands Humble Pie and The Herd. Frampton's international breakthrough album was his live release, Frampton Comes Alive!. The album sold more than six million copies in the United States alone and spawned several hits. Since then he has released several major albums. He has also worked with David Bowie and both Matt Cameron and Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, among others. Frampton is best known for such hits as "Breaking All The Rules", "Show Me the Way", "Baby, I Love Your Way", "Do You Feel Like We Do", and "I'm in You", which remain staples on classic-rock radio. He has also appeared as himself in television shows such as The Simpsons and Family Guy. Frampton is known for his work as a guitar player and particularly with a Talkbox and his tenor voice. <br />

<span class="mw-headline" id="Early_life">Early life</span></h2>
Frampton was born in Bromley, UK. He attended Bromley Technical High
School, at which his father, Owen Frampton, was a teacher and the head
of the Art department.He first became interested in music when he was
seven years old. Upon discovering his grandmother’s banjolele (a
banjo-shaped ukulele) in the attic he taught himself to play, and later
taught himself to play guitar and piano as well. At age eight he started
taking classical music lessons.<br />
Early influences were Cliff Richard & the Shadows (featuring
guitarist Hank Marvin) and American rockers Buddy Holly and Eddie
Cochran, and then the Ventures, Jimi Hendrix, and The Beatles. His
father introduced him to the recordings of Belgian gypsy jazz guitarist
Django Reinhardt.<br />

By the age of 12, Frampton played in a band called The Little Ravens.
Both he and David Bowie, who is three years older, were pupils at
Bromley Technical School. The Little Ravens played on the same bill at
school as Bowie’s band, George and the Dragons.Peter and David would
spend time together at lunch breaks, playing Buddy Holly songs.<br />
At the age of 14, Peter was playing with a band called The Trubeats
followed by a band called The Preachers, produced and managed by Bill
Wyman of The Rolling Stones.[6]<br />
He became a successful child singer, and in 1966 he became a member
of The Herd. He was the lead guitarist and singer, scoring several
British pop hits. Frampton was named “The Face of 1968″ by teen magazine
<i>Rave</i>.<br />
In early 1969, when Frampton was 18 years old, he joined with Steve Marriott of The Small Faces to form Humble Pie.<br />
While playing with Humble Pie, Frampton also did session recording
with other artists, including: Harry Nilsson, Jim Price, Jerry Lee
Lewis, as well as on George Harrison’s solo <i>All Things Must Pass</i>, in 1970, and John Entwistle’s <i>Whistle Rymes</i>, in 1972.[10] During the Harrison session he was introduced to the “talk box” that was to become one of his trademark guitar effects.<br />

Deliverance is a 1972 American dramatic thriller film produced and directed by John Boorman and starring Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty, and Ronny Cox, with the latter two making their feature film debuts. The film is based on the 1970 novel of the same name by American author James Dickey, who has a small role in the film as the Sheriff. The screenplay was written by Dickey and an uncredited Boorman.

Widely acclaimed as a landmark picture, the film is noted both for the memorable music scene near the beginning, with one of the city men duelling on guitar with a strange country boy playing banjo, that sets the tone for what lies ahead—a trip into unknown and potentially dangerous territory—and for its notorious "squeal like a pig" male rape scene. In 2008, Deliverance was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

<br />
Plot<br />
Four Atlanta businessmen, Lewis Medlock, Ed Gentry, Bobby Trippe, and Drew Ballinger, decide to canoe down a river in the remote northern Georgia wilderness, expecting to have fun and see the glory of nature before the fictional Cahulawassee River valley is flooded by the construction of a dam. Lewis, an experienced outdoorsman, is the leader. Ed is also a veteran of several trips but lacks Lewis' machismo. Bobby and Drew are novices.
The four men encounter friction with the "mountain men" locals, some of whom appear to be inbred.<br />
<br />
The locals are suspicious of the city men while the four middle class men act superior to the poor and uneducated locals. Bobby is particularly contemptuous of the poverty and uncouth nature of the local men. Despite this, Drew bonds with a local teenager when they engage in an impromptu rendition of "Dueling Banjos", but the boy frowns and turns away when Drew offers his hand to the youngster in a congratulatory gesture, which Drew finds strange, as the boy had been happy and smiling only moments earlier.<br />
<br />
The boy next appears on a footbridge over the river just as the men are beginning their trip. He watches the men as they canoe under the bridge, again ignoring Drew's friendly gesture to him.
When the men break for their first night on the river, Lewis leaves to investigate a strange noise in the woods but returns having found nothing.<br />
<br />
The next day the group's two canoes are separated and Bobby and Ed pull ashore to try and get their bearings. The two are accosted by a pair of shotgun wielding hillbillies, who claim that the men have accused them of running a still and making moonshine whiskey. The hillbillies tie Ed to a tree and the 'Mountain Man' violently rape Bobby, ordering the overweight man to "squeal like a pig".<br />
<br />
As the hillbillies prepare to orally rape Ed, Lewis and Drew arrive on the scene. Using his bow, Lewis kills the Mountain Man and the other man ('Toothless Man') runs off when Ed manages to grab the shotgun.
The men argue about how to proceed. Drew insists that they must report the incident to the police but Lewis argues otherwise. He states that "these people are all related," therefore any police investigation or jury would likely include the man's friends and relatives.<br />
<br />
Ed agrees with Lewis, and Bobby insists that he does not want his rape to become public knowledge. The four men bury the body, reasoning that the impending flood of the valley will cover up any evidence and that the Toothless Man will not go to the authorities because of his participation in the rape.
The four make a run for it down the river, cutting their trip short, but soon disaster strikes as the canoes reach a dangerous stretch of rapids. Drew suddenly falls out of the lead canoe and disappears, causing Ed to lose control and smash both boats on the rocks.<br />
<br />
Lewis breaks his leg in the spill and he, Bobby and Ed make it to shore. Lewis believes that the man who escaped is stalking them and shot Drew from the bluffs above the river. That night, Ed makes his way up the bluffs with a bow and arrow. The next morning he sees a man, whom he believes to be the escaped hillbilly, holding a gun and looking down into the ravine.<br />
<br />
Ed nervously shoots an arrow at the man, killing him, but in the process he slips and wounds himself with one of his own arrows. On closer inspection, Ed is no longer sure that the man he shot is the same one who escaped, noting that the escaped man had missing teeth while this one wore dentures. He returns to the river's shore with the body, but Bobby cannot positively identify the man.<br />
<br />
Ed and Bobby weigh the body down with rocks and sink it in the river. Further down the river they recover Drew's drowned and mangled body with a head wound that may or may not have been caused by a gunshot.
They finally reach their destination, the town of Aintry, which is being relocated and will soon be submerged by the waters displaced by the new dam.<br />
<br />
The local sheriff seems suspicious of the men's story that Drew drowned on the river and notes that a deputy of his is missing a relative who had gone out hunting in the area, presumably one of the men whom Ed and Lewis have killed. Nevertheless the sheriff has no actual evidence and releases the men, telling them to never come back. Ed, Bobby and Lewis vow to keep the events of the trip secret for the rest of their lives. In the final scene, Ed awakens screaming from a nightmare wherein a dead man's hand reaches up from the surface of the newly formed lake.<br />

“<b>Rapper’s Delight</b>” is a song
recorded in 1979 by American hip hop trio The Sugarhill Gang. While it
was not the first single to feature rapping, it is generally considered
to be the song that first popularized hip hop in the United States and
around the world. The song is ranked #251 on the <i>Rolling Stone</i> magazine’s list of <i>The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time</i> and #2 on both About.com’s and VH1′s <i>100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs</i>.
It is also included in NPR’s list of the 100 most important American
musical works of the 20th century. The song was also named as the
Greatest Really Long Rock Song of all time by Digital Dream Door.[1]
It was preserved into the National Recording Registry by the Library of
Congress in 2011, calling it “culturally, historically, or
aesthetically significant.”</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The song was recorded in a single take.
There are three versions of the original version of the song: 14:35 (12″
long version), 6:30 (12″ short version), and 4:55 (7″ shortened single
version). Ten years after its initial release, an official remix by Ben
Liebrand entitled “Rapper’s Delight ’89″ was released.</div>

<span style="font-size: medium;">The Sugarhill Gang</span><br />
<br />
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia<br />
<br />
is an American Rap music group, known mostly for its 1979 hit
“Rapper’s Delight,” the first rap single to become a Top 40 hit. The
song uses an interpolation of the instrumental track from the hit “Good
Times” by Chic as its foundation. The members, all from Englewood, New
Jersey consisted of Michael “Wonder Mike” Wright, Henry “Big Bank Hank”
Jackson, and Guy “Master Gee” O’Brien. The three were assembled into a
group by producer Sylvia Robinson, who founded Sugar Hill Records with
her husband, record mogul Joe Robinson.[2] The group and the record
company are named after the Sugar Hill, Manhattan neighborhood.[3] The
Sugarhill Gang never again topped the US charts, though it had a slew of
European hits, such as “Apache”, “Eighth Wonder” (which was performed
on the American music show Soul Train in 1981), “Rapper’s Reprise (Jam
Jam),” and “Showdown” (with the Furious Five). In 1999, the trio
reunited and recorded Jump on It! a hip hop children’s album. The group
continue to tour. “Here I Am,” a track on their album sang by Craig
Derry, achieved moderate success despite not being released as a single.
Bob Sinclar collaborated with Wonder Mike and Master Gee on his 2009
release “Lala Song”. The Sugarhill Gang is also known as the Original
Sugar.<br />
<h2>
<span class="mw-headline" id="Background">Background</span></h2>
In late 1978, Debbie Harry suggested that Chic’s Nile Rodgers join
her and Chris Stein at a hip hop event, which at the time was a communal
space taken over by teenagers with boombox stereos playing various
pieces of music that performers would break dance to. Rodgers
experienced this event the first time himself at a high school in the
Bronx. On September 20, 1979 and September 21, 1979, Blondie and Chic
were playing at concerts of The Clash in New York at The Palladium. When
Chic started playing “Good Times”, rapper Fab Five Freddy and the
members of the Sugarhill Gang (“Big Bank Hank” Jackson, Mike Wright, and
“Master Gee” O’Brien), jumped up on stage and started freestyling with
the band. A few weeks later Rodgers was on the dance floor of New York
club Leviticus and heard the DJ play a song which opened with Bernard
Edwards’ bass line from Chic’s “Good Times”. Rodgers approached the DJ
who said he was playing a record he had just bought that day in Harlem.
The song turned out to be an early version of “Rapper’s Delight,” which
also included a scratched version of the song’s string section. Rodgers
and Edwards immediately threatened legal action over copyright, which
resulted in a settlement and their being credited as co-writers. Rodgers
admitted that he was originally upset with the song, but would later
declare it to be “one of his favorite songs of all time” and his
favorite of all the tracks that sampled Chic. (Although it wasn’t
sampled, it was re-created) He also stated that “as innovative and
important as ‘Good Times’ was, ‘Rapper’s Delight’ was just as much, if
not more so.”<br />
Before the “Good Times” background starts, the intro to the recording
is an interpolation of “Here Comes That Sound Again” by British studio
group Love De-Luxe, a dance hit in 1979.<br />
According to Oliver Wang, author of the 2003 <i>Classic Material: The Hip-Hop Album Guide</i>,
recording artist (“Pillow Talk”) and studio owner Sylvia Robinson had
trouble finding anyone willing to record a rap song. Most of the rappers
who performed in clubs did not want to record. It is said that
Robinson’s son heard a rapper in a pizza place, and the rapper was
persuaded to come to a studio and record someone else’s words while
“Good Times” was played.<br />
Chip Shearin said in a 2010 interview that at age 17, he was visiting
a friend in New Jersey. The friend knew Robinson, who needed some
musicians for various recordings, including “Rapper’s Delight”.
Shearin’s job on the song was to play the bass for 15 minutes straight,
with no mistakes. He was paid $70 but later went on to perform with
Sugarhill Gang in concert. Shearin described the session this way:<br />
<blockquote>
The drummer and I were sweating bullets because that’s a
long time. And this was in the days before samplers and drum machines,
when real humans had to play things. … Sylvia said, ‘I’ve got these kids
who are going to talk real fast over it; that’s the best way I can
describe it.’</blockquote>
Wang said:<br />
<blockquote>
There’s this idea that hip-hop has to have street
credibility, yet the first big hip-hop song was an inauthentic
fabrication. It’s not like the guys involved were the ‘real’ hip-hop
icons of the era, like Grandmaster Flash or Lovebug Starski. So it’s a
pretty impressive fabrication, lightning in a bottle.</blockquote>
<h2>
<span class="mw-headline" id="History">History</span></h2>
“Rapper’s Delight” peaked at #36 in January 1980 on the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100 chart,#4 on the U.S. Hot Soul Singles chart in
December 1979, #1 on the Canadian Singles Chart in January 1980, #1 on
the Dutch Top 40, #3 on the UK Singles Chart, and #2 on VH1′s top 100
hip-hop songs of all time. Reportedly it became the first hip-hop single
to go diamond (5 million copies), but it should be noted that Sugarhill
was one of many small independent labels that were not willing to let
outside accountants go through their books; thus, it has never been
certified by the RIAA. In 1980 the song was the anchor of the group’s
first album <i>The Sugarhill Gang</i>.<br />
It was the first Top 40 song to be available only as a 12-inch
extended version in the U.S. Early pressings (very few) were released
with a red label, with black print, on Sugarhill Records, along with a
7″ 45rpm single (which is very rare). Later pressings had the more
common blue label, in orange colored “roulette style” sleeves, while
even later pressings were issued in the more common blue sleeves with
the Sugarhill Records logo. In Europe, however, it was released on the

<b>Lee Eugene Michaels</b> (born <b>Michael Olsen</b>, November 24, 1945, <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles" title="Los Angeles">Los Angeles</a>, <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California" title="California">California</a>) is a rock musician who performs vocals and accompanies himself on <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organ_%28music%29" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organ_%28music%29" title="Organ (music)">organ</a>, <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piano" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piano" title="Piano">piano</a>, or <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar" title="Guitar">guitar</a>. He is best known for his energetic virtuosity on the <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammond_organ" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammond_organ" title="Hammond organ">Hammond organ</a>, peaking in 1971 with his <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_40" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_40" title="Top 40">Top 10</a> <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music" title="Pop music">pop</a> <a data-mce-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hit_single" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hit_single" title="Hit single">hit single</a>, "Do You Know What I Mean".<br />
Michaels
began his career with The Sentinals, a San Luis Obispo,
California-based surf group that included drummer Johny Barbata (later
of The Turtles, Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship). Michaels
joined Barbata in the Strangers, a group led by guitarist Joel Scott
Hill. Michaels later moved to San Francisco, where he joined an early
version of The Family Tree, a band led by Bob Segarini. In 1967, he signed a contract with A&M Records, releasing his debut album, <i>Carnival of Life</i>, later that year. As a session musician, he played with Jimi Hendrix, among others.<br />
Michaels'
choice of the Hammond organ as his primary instrument was unusual for
the time, as was his bare-bones stage and studio accompaniment: Usually
just a single drummer, most often a musician known as "Frosty" (Bartholomew Eugene Smith-Frost) a member of Sweathog,
or with Joel Larson of The Grass Roots. This unorthodox approach
attracted a following in San Francisco, and some critical notice (<i>Sounds</i> reported that he had been called "the ultimate power organist"), but Michaels did not achieve real commercial success until the release of his fifth album.<br />
Album <i>Fifth</i>
(1971) produced a surprise US Top 10 hit (#6 in the fall of 1971), "Do
You Know What I Mean", an autobiographical homage to the loss of a
girlfriend, and a Top 40 follow-up, a cover version of the Motown
standard, "Can I Get a Witness" (#39). Michaels recorded two more albums
for A&M before signing a recording contract with Columbia Records
in 1973. His Columbia recordings failed to generate much interest, and
Michaels went into semi-retirement from the music industry by the end of
the decade.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Michael Joseph Jackson</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span> (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)[4] Michael Jackson was an American recording artist, actor, producer, dancer, businessman, and philanthropist. Often referred to by the honorific nickname "The King of Pop", his contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades.
The eighth child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along with his brothers as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971. In the early 1980s, Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music. The music videos for his songs, including those of "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller", were credited with breaking down racial barriers and with transforming the medium into an art form and promotional tool. The popularity of these videos helped to bring the then-relatively-new television channel MTV to fame. With videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream", he continued to innovate the medium throughout the 1990s, as well as forging a reputation as a touring solo artist. Through stage and video performances, Jackson popularized a number of complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, to which he gave the name. His distinctive sound and style has influenced numerous hip hop, post-disco, contemporary R&B, pop, and rock artists.
Jackson's 1982 album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time. His other albums, including Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995), also rank among the world's best-selling. Jackson is one of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. He was also inducted into the Dance Hall of Fame as the first and only dancer from pop and rock music. Some of his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records; 13 Grammy Awards as well as the Grammy Legend Award and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award; 26 American Music Awards, more than any other artist, including the "Artist of the Century" and "Artist of the 1980s"; 13 number-one singles in the United States in his solo career, more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era; and the estimated sale of over 400 million records worldwide.[Note 1] Jackson has won hundreds of awards, making him the most-awarded recording artist in the history of popular music In what would have been Jackson's 52nd birthday on August 29, 2010, he became the most downloaded artist of all time in Nokia Music Store. Jackson constantly traveled the world attending events honoring his humanitarianism and the 2000 Guinness Book of Records recognized him for supporting 39 charities. Aspects of Jackson's personal life, including his changing appearance, personal relationships, and behavior, generated controversy. In the mid-1990s, he was accused of child sexual abuse, but the case was settled out of court for about $25 million and no formal charges were brought. In 2005, he was tried and acquitted of further child sexual abuse allegations and several other charges after the jury found him not guilty on all counts. While preparing for his comeback concert series titled This Is It, Jackson died of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication on June 25, 2009, after suffering from cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles County Coroner ruled his death a homicide, and his personal physician Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Jackson's death triggered a global outpouring of grief and a live broadcast of his public memorial service was viewed around the world.<br />

<br />
Early life (1943 -1971)<br />
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia<br />
<br />
Milsap was born January 16, 1943, in Robbinsville, North Carolina. A
congenital disorder left him almost completely blind. Abandoned by his
mother as an infant, he was raised by his grandparents in the Smoky
Mountains until the age of five, when he was sent to the Governor
Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, North Carolina. During his
childhood he lost his remaining vision, and both his eyes were
eventually removed.[citation needed] Throughout his childhood, he was
interested in music—particularly the late-night broadcasts of country
music, gospel music, and rhythm and blues. In concert, he has often paid
tribute to the artists who have inspired him the most including Ray
Charles, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley.<br />
When he was seven years old, his instructors began to notice his
musical talents. Soon afterward he began studying classical music
formally and learned several instruments, eventually mastering the
piano. Within the next few years he also developed a passion for rock
and roll music and formed a rock band with classmates in high school,
The Apparitions. Milsap was awarded a full college scholarship and
briefly attended Young Harris College in Young Harris, GA, until leaving
to pursue a full-time career in music. In the early 1960s, he
auditioned for and played his first professional gigs as a member of
J.J. Cale’s band.<br />
Milsap released his first single, “Total Disaster”, in 1963 which
enjoyed some local success in the Atlanta area. In 1965, Milsap signed
with New York-based Scepter Records, recording eight obscure singles for
the label and working briefly with other soul musicians like Ray
Charles, Stevie Wonder, and James Brown. Also in 1965, Milsap had Top 20
success with the Ashford & Simpson-penned single, “Never Had It So
Good”, which peaked at No. 19 on the R&B chart. It would be his only
successful single during his time with Scepter. Another Ashford &
Simpson tune named “Let’s Go Get Stoned”, was relegated to a B-side. A
few months later, however, it became a million-selling single for Ray
Charles. About this same time, Milsap met Joyce Reeves at a dinner
party, and the two were married in 1965.<br />
A few years later, after moving to Memphis, Tennessee, he worked for
producer Chips Moman while performing weekly at the popular Memphis
nightclub T.J.’s. During this time, Milsap worked as a session musician
on numerous projects including two songs with Elvis Presley: “Don’t Cry
Daddy” in 1969 and “Kentucky Rain” in 1970. That same year, Milsap had a
minor success on the pop charts with the single “Loving You Is a
Natural Thing”. He recorded and released his debut album, Ronnie Milsap,
on Warner Brothers in 1971. Milsap’s R&B recordings from this
period are so obscure that all but the most diehard Milsap fans remain
largely unaware of them.<br />
Breakthrough success (1973-1975)<br />
From 1976 to 1978, Milsap became one of country music’s biggest
stars. He scored seven No. 1 singles in a row, including the
Grammy-winning “(I’m a) Stand By My Woman Man” and “What a Difference
You’ve Made in My Life”. The most significant of this series was “It Was
Almost Like a Song” in 1977, a dramatic piano-based song that showcased
his soaring vocal range[citation needed] and became his most successful
single of the 1970s. In addition to topping the Billboard Hot Country
Songs chart, the song was his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 pop
music chart since “Please Don’t Tell Me How the Story Ends” reached No.
95; “It Was Almost Like a Song,” however, reached No. 16. It was also
his first song to make the Adult Contemporary Chart, stopping at No. 7.
Despite its success, the song was Milsap’s only crossover success of the
1970s. Milsap continued to achieve hits on the country music charts for
the remainder of the 1970s.<br />

<b>The Cars</b> are an American rock band that emerged from the new wave scene in the late 1970s. The band originated in Boston, Massachusetts, with lead singer and rhythm guitarist Ric Ocasek, lead singer and bassist Benjamin Orr, lead guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes and drummer David Robinson. They were signed to Elektra Records by George Daly,<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cars#cite_note-1"></a> then A&R head, in 1977.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cars#cite_note-The_Great_Rock_Discography-2"></a><br />
The Cars were at the forefront in merging 1970s guitar-oriented rock with the new synth-oriented
pop that was then becoming popular and which would flourish in the
early 1980s. The Cars started fresh with their debut album <i>The Cars</i> which went on to go platinum in late 1978. The Cars' debut album was called a "genuine rock masterpiece" by Allmusic. The most successful and well known song from the album, "Just What I Needed",
started as a demo in 1977. The song was sent as a mix tape to a local
DJ in the Boston area, who played the song in heavy rotation. This soon
caught the attention of other DJs, which led to the signing of the band
by Elektra Records in 1977.<br />
The band broke up in 1988, and Ocasek had always discouraged talk of a
reunion since then, telling one interviewer in 1997 "I'm saying never
and you can count on that."<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cars#cite_note-3"></a> Bassist Benjamin Orr died in 2000 from pancreatic cancer. In 2005, Easton and Hawkes joined with Todd Rundgren to form a spin-off band, The New Cars,
which performed classic Cars and Rundgren songs alongside new material.
The surviving original members reunited in 2010 to record a new album,
titled <i>Move Like This</i>, which was released May 10, 2011, and a tour to start on the same day<br />
